IASTM (HawkGrips)

Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM) is a manual therapy technique used to treat soft tissue dysfunction (myofascial restriction). Our clinicians use ergonomically designed, hand-held instruments made by HawkGrips to comb over skin in order to detect soft tissue problems. And they apply an appropriate amount of pressure to introduce controlled microtrauma to the area. This initiates the breakdown and reabsorption of excessive scar tissue (fibrosis) and other myofascial adhesions, which facilitates healing to help you recover your range of motion and functionality.

IASTM treatments typically last 30 to 60 seconds over each area. Treatments are usually done in conjunction with an exercise and strengthening program for optimal rehabilitation. This helps the injured tissues heal and keeps them from getting stiff again. You may feel mild discomfort 1-3 days after treatment. This is normal and the application of ice for about 15 to 20 minutes usually works to ease the discomfort.

ISATM has successfully be used to treat a variety of conditions including:
